Fred wondered what a large bell made out of cornmeal was doing in the
corner of the cavern. But whatever it was there for, it would just have to
do. He stepped over to it and pulled a chunk off. He tasted it first to
make sure it would go nicely with the Velus-hummus.
But as he chewed, something wonderful happened. The scales fell from his eyes and HE COULD SEE!!!!! "By all the gods!" Fred shouted, "I almost ate VELUS!" Fred then rushed back to the spell book. He had to reverse what he had done and then restore Velus to his true form for now he knew that Velus was the only one who knew the location of the mighty Scimitar of Dread, the only weapon that could slay the Dragon. Fred began to read from the book again when suddenly the old man pushed him aside and yelled, "You're doing that all wrong, Johnny! How many times am I going to have to show you how to do this?!" And then the old man spoke the words, his voice sounding like thunder, and with a wave of his hands Velus stood once more in the shape of a man!
