Shortly afterwards, Freda, Rosamunda, and Rick (who was somewhat worse for the wear but wanted to help the one who had been the reason he was back with his family) arrived at the headquarters of the High Council of Sorcerers of Allaria--a grand, sprawling building seemingly made entirely of silver, lit by blue fire that did not burn hovering in the air at regular intervals down each hallway. Much of the building was closed off to visitors but they were at least admitted into the main hall. A sorcerer in red robes met them there, introducing himself as Krobeus. "I can take you to see Belboz, but you will not be permitted to talk to him," he explained. "I can ask him whatever you want, though, and you can watch. I understand you want to know the whereabouts of your companions Gabriel and Mara. Follow me." He led them up some stairs and down some halls, passing several men and women along the way, all wearing elaborate robes and dresses. They eventually entered a plain room with one clear wall granting a view into the next room, which contained only Belboz, sitting on the floor and chained to the wall behind him, glaring defiantly at the glass in front of him. "Don't worry, he can't see through it," Krobeus assured them. "And the chains nullify all his powers. Just stay here." He spoke a word none of them could have hoped to replicate, and stepped directly through the clear wall. Freda and her friends watched in trepidation as Belboz raised his head. "I knew I sensed somebody there. Come to pass down judgment?" "Not just yet. That will be a long process and you know it. For now, I want to know about some statues that you once had, but we did not find. A brother and sister called Gabriel and Mara, amateur sorcerers themselves." Belboz appeared deep in thought for a moment. At length he said,
