Nadia stared at the ugly creature, her brain processing the implications of this. She knew that this was what happened to a fairy when the bond he or she shared with another was broken. And she put all the pieces together to come up with the correct story, and, finally, realized that this was her fault. Frita had no idea who this was, and glared at her through slitted eyes. Nadia closed her eyes, trying to stay composed. Focus on the now. She knew that with Gailen's wand lost, and likely this fairy's as well, there was no redoing the union. In fact, Nadia wasn't sure it was possible to undo this transformation. It would be best, kindest, for all involved, to just set this creature free and not tell Gailen about her. Nadia drew near, and the creature hissed at her, but she ignored it. It seemed that the best way to free the creature would be to shrink it and lift it up through one of the air holes on top - resizing magic came easily to fairies. So that was what she did. She continued moving it to the open window above the desk, and as soon as it was through, she let go of the magic, and it snapped back to full size and dropped like a stone ten feet to the grass outside. She released a deep, shuddering breath. It was free, and now she knew that nothing was keeping them here. She could take Gailen anywhere and he would be hers. They completed the search of the tower, and, satisfied that no other fairies were trapped within, they returned home. The following day, Nadia said to Gailen, "You know, I've been thinking about it, and I've decided I just don't feel safe anymore now that that sorcerer is here. I don't think staying is worth it." Gailen agreed, and they made preparations to move elsewhere.
