Dead End

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 115469

Fred had never been more afraid or alone. Absolutely everything had changed, and she was trapped, with no hope of escape and little of rescue. It seemed that the rest of the fish in the basin were simple animals, because she saw no evidence of human intelligence from them. She almost wished her mind would grow as dull as theirs. What point was there in being able to think so clearly if she could do nothing to help herself?

She gradually let her new fishy instincts take over, nibbling algae from the bottom of the basin and nabbing insects that alighted near the water's surface. Every once in a while Arius came by to drop some food in as well. It all tasted foul, but she had to eat.

When Arius did come, she always heard some wibbly version of his voice, but it was garbled and completely incoherent to her. If only she could talk to him! Beg for a release from her curse! At least ask what had become of Belboz... She just prayed he had escaped with the item he'd needed. Then at least some good would have come out of her situation.

Time passed, and Fred soon began to fear she would go mad. There was nothing to occupy herself with, nothing at all.

  1. Eventually, Fred lost her mind. Days passed without her realizing it, as all she did was swim erratically around the basin.
  2. Somehow, Fred managed to hold onto her sanity and her hope.
