Belboz stood rooted to the spot, mouth hung open, as he watched the changes his test subject was undergoing. Her entire body shuddered and trembled, but she engaged in no violent movement, seeming utterly unaware and uncomprehending of what was happening to her, and that certainly seemed to be for the best. Limbs half-merged back into her main shape but then stopped as if stuck, while new ones began to sprout out of her, fins, but malformed ones, barely recognizable. Patches of fur fell out and floated in the water around her. Her flesh roiled as if a storm was brewing underneath, her bone structure shifting from moment to moment. In the end, Hannah had become a repulsively hideous hybrid the likes of which Belboz had never seen. Her head was elongated, not unlike a horse's, but still eerily human, with hair still present, but no visible ears. Underneath, her short, mostly human neck bore gills, and led into a long body, reminiscent of a mermaid's tail, but bearing on the bottom short, completely useless legs, which looked more or less human, but ended in hooves. Small fins had sprouted on either side of her body, and at the end of that body was a long horse's tail whose color matched that of her hair. The body bore odd patches of scales, short fur, and naked human skin, and on the whole measured about twelve feet from nose to tail-tip. Its large dark eyes blinked slowly, showing no sign of intelligence behind them. The thing that Hannah had become was almost comical in its ugliness, but Bleboz's heart thudded hard as he looked upon it, pondering what this could mean.
