Clearly, Susan needed some time to consider this deeply. Charlie left her in her room and made sure to give her plenty of space for the rest of the day.

She was so confused. Alfred made her so, so happy, and she had been positive she was meant to be with him. When he'd proposed, "no" didn't even feel like a viable option. But she'd completely forgotten, for all this time she's spent with him, about her quest. About Fred! About her very self!

Maybe she could ask Alfred to wait. Maybe she could see, when spring came, if the potion worked, and if it didn't, she could be with Alfred then. But... did she even want it to work?

That night,

  1. she snuck out of the house to elope with Alfred before she could talk herself out of it.
  2. she decided to ask Alfred to wait until next spring.
  3. she decided to break it off with Alfred completely.
