The intruders were not malevolent by nature, and in fact were trying to do much the same thing Fred had started out trying to do: protect the kingdom from the dragon. It was a man and a woman, both amateur sorcerers, who needed some of Vycynth's magical items. The woman came out into the enclosure, and Freda raised her head from the grazing she'd been doing, chewing lazily. Was this a friend of Vycynth's? She'd seen some over the years but not too many. The woman approached Freda, curiosity upon her face. "Are you a magic cow?" she asked, though even she herself was not sure whether she was sensing magic within the creature, or was simply unsure as to why else the wizard would keep a cow. "Yes," Freda answered idly, and the woman jumped back. Presently the man, her brother, came out, and they asked some questions, but not the right ones to determine that Freda had once been a knight. All they got out of her was that she was a talking cow with "magic milk" (the reason for this magical nature being her human beginnings and the transformation magic) and she was treated well by Vycynth. She learned only that their names were Mara and Gabriel. However, they soon determined that they had made a grave mistake by talking to her, since she would tell Vycynth who had robbed him.
