Aftermath

Stacy opened her eyes and saw Michiko's face, her eyes like obsidian orbs in a pool of chocolate. Michiko tucked Stacy into the silver blanket that was wrapped around her. Underneath she felt the slick wetness of the gloop still on her skin.

"What happened?" Stacy looked around the lab and saw what looked like the aftermath of a small war with unconscious riot cops scattered around like discarded dolls. One had his helmeted head half through the shattered glass of the microwave oven, one lay half hanging off the kitchen worktop, another pinned under a toppled refrigerator. Astra was picking through the wreckage, picking up useful weapons.

When she noticed that Stacy was awake she came straight over, looking concerned. "Stacy! Are you alright?"

"I think so." Stacy tried getting to her feet but Astra had to steady her.

"You are too brave," said Astra. "Michiko, please tell me she will be alright."

"I'm fine," said Stacy. "Just need to get my bearings."

"We need to be quick." Michkio examined her computer display which by some miracle remained untouched. "There are more cops in the way."

"Please tell me you have an escape route for us," said Astra.

"I do," said Michiko. "But you won't be flying first class this time."
