Time to Go

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 113669

Astra and Stacy rematerialised together back on the Maelstrom. Astra had a very visible red mark on her face from where Revenant had slapped it. Evidently it still stang, as she rubbed it ruefully. "Just as well I took a sword as well as the blaster," she said. "I thought it would come in useful."

"I take it that all did not go smoothly?" Kester said.

"Not exactly."

"Revenant said that the Dark Blade and its fleet would be here within minutes," Stacy reminded Astra (and informed the others), having heard their conversation. "We had enough trouble with one of their light cruisers, so I think we'd be outmatched. We'd better get out of here."

Astra sighed. "I suppose you're right, but I don't like running from a fight. And it means that we're abandoning the gateway, at least for now. I don't want to be stuck here long-term."

Gateway? Kester looked enquiringly at her. What was this about a gateway?

"Approaching ships detected," Zen reported before he could ask her about it. "Range still too great to identify their class, but there are at least six."

"Zen, head directly away from them at maximum speed," Stacy ordered.

They could tell that the ship had started turning from the way that the space station began moving across the forward viewscreen, before disappearing from their field of view. "Zen, delay accelerating until we're all strapped into our seats," Kester said. "We don't want to be sent flying."

Ten seconds later they were all strapped in and the Maelstrom sped away.

  1. They manage to outrun the enemy ships.
  2. They can't outrun the enemy.
  3. They must have still been outside the range of the enemy vessels' sensors when they began their retreat, as they are not pursued.
