Michiko's Hospitality

Trying not to let herself be distracted by imagining what having a threesome with Michiko and Astra might be like, Stacy said: "All right. But if possible we should avoid public areas on the way there, if we can't get directly to your lab by elevator. O'Tool pretended to arrest us on the shuttle trip up here, and the other people who were on the shuttle think that we're in custody."

Michiko raised an eyebrow, but all she said was: "Very well. Follow me."

Michiko's lab turned out to be very close at hand. It contained a variety of high-tech devices, the functions of most of which Stacy could not even guess at. She did recognise a few items, though. There was a computer, naturally, and in one corner of the lab that evidently served as a kitchen there were a fridge, a microwave, a coffee machine and a sink.

Astra was looking at the kitchen alcove too. "It seems like quite a long time since we've had anything to eat or drink," she remarked.

"I can offer you sandwiches and coffee or orange juice," Michiko said. "I don't have any ready meals in the fridge at the moment, I'm afraid."

"It's only a couple of hours since we had that drinking session with Frank and Jeanette," Stacy reminded Astra. "Though I didn't drink that much. And the drinks were strong enough to be more dehydrating than anything. So I'd be glad of a coffee and a snack, Michiko. Thanks."

"You don't have any alcohol?" Astra asked.

"I'm afraid not," Michiko said.

"A coffee then, please. Black with two sugars."

"I'm beginning to worry that you might be becoming an alcoholic," Stacy said only half in jest.

"I can take alcohol or leave it. It's just that usually I choose to take it."

Five minutes later, the three of them were eating sandwiches and drinking coffee. "You said you might be able to help with my amnesia," Stacy said to Michiko. "So are you going to use one of your futuristic bits of kit on me?"

1. "If you agree, then yes. I should warn you that there's only about a 50% chance that it will work, and maybe a 5% chance that it will actually cause renewed amnesia, so that you forget everything prior to my use of the machine on you."
2. "Nothing like that. I have had training as a hypnotherapist and I propose to hypnotise you and see if I can unlock your memories."
3. Before Michiko could reply...
