Astra's Away Mission

"Energy reserves down to 45%. All systems are online and functioning perfectly."

"Excellent. Move us into teleport range of the space station."

"Confirmed."

"What's the plan," asked Stacy.

"There's no sign of the Darkblade so I'm going over to the station," said Astra, standing and making her way to the teleporter room. "I want to see what state Revenant left it in. Try and figure out what he was up to. You coming with?"

"Of course," said Stacy.

"He'll have left a detachment over there," said Kester. "That's how the Solidarity works."

Astra looked over her shoulder. "I'll be careful."

"Careful?" said Ogilvy. "I don't think she knows the meaning of the word."

Stacy shrugged and followed Astra. She found her in the armoury, busy strapping on weapons. Stacy picked up a blaster and joined Carl in the teleporter room. Kester stood over him, watching, as Carl operated the console.

"That doesn't look right," said Kester. "Are you sure you know what you're doing?"

"It worked before," said Carl.

"Teleporting into a spacious cavern is one thing," said Kester. "That space station is what I would call a tight fit." He looked towards Astra. "This isn't like programming a combine harvester. It's precision work."

"Carl," said Astra. "Let Kester do it. He's supposed to be the computer genius."

"As you wish, O Great One." said Carl, backing away with a bow.

"What is it with him," said Kester, flicking switches.

"That's a long story," said Astra.

"But an exciting one," said Stacy. "Involving dogfights, hover-bikes and an ancient temple."

"And sex," said Astra.

Stacy flared her eyes at Astra.

"You must remember the sex?"

"No," said Stacy. "I mean yes, of course I remember the sex." She pulled Astra in close and spoke through gritted teeth. "We don't talk about the sex in front of the computer genius"

"Well you can tell me all about it when you get back," said Kester. He sounded unenthusiastic but then again, he always sounded unenthusiastic.

Stacy and Astra stepped into the teleporter.

"But you can leave out the sex," said Kester his hands poised over the controls.

"Activate the teleport," said Stacy.

Kester pulled a lever and the teleporter activated.
