Fred drops the cheese as if it were cursed: "Damned cursed cheese! Rat-
men and man-animals, wicked cheese and a dastardly dragon!"
Fred continued along the dark tunnel wondering how difficult killing the Dragon Soth would be. He had spent nearly his whole life training to defeat it, his uncle had done the same years before and had gone off and killed the snow-wyrm Gedda, yet his uncle had come back severely scarred. Fred was not afraid, but neither was he rash. He made a recall of all he knew of the Dragon of the Southern Caves; its name was Soth in the lands of the King, it was told that the beast terrorized the farmfolk all about the mountains - in the King's land, as well as in Rosoft and Killean to the east, Calif to the west and Ankorage to the south. Many a king's ransoms lay over the head of this beast, and Fred wasn't going to let anyone else take the prize away from him. He continued his trek through the tunnel dug by the beast-men. Finally he reached the stretch that crossed through a section of the mountain. He exited and entered into the light of day. It was still chilly, spring had barely begun by the time Fred had come to the mountains. He followed the crude, strange pathway, it had the prints of many large beasts upon it, and Fred wondered whether they belonged to men, half-men or animals made to resemble men. The path led to an overarch along the skin of the mountain and then back into a cave opening. Fred knew that he was getting closer to the lair of the foul Soth!
