Carl led them towards a doorless entrance that was about twelve feet high and eight feet wide. "It's going to be pitch black inside, unless it has a working lighting system, which I very much doubt," Astra said. "We should have thought to bring a flashlight."

"You are in for a surprise, Liberator," Carl said.

Sure enough, the moment the three of them passed through the entrance motion sensors must have detected their presence, for bright lights came on to illuminate the interior. Stacy realised that her impression of the place from outside had been completely wrong. The builders must have had highly advanced technology at their disposal, for judging by the creepers the lighting must have remained operational for decades, perhaps even for centuries.

That wasn't her first thought, though, as her attention had instead immediately been grabbed by the sheer size of the space that they were in, for it seemed that it must take up the whole of the interior of the pyramid. "Wow!" she said.

"Wow indeed," Astra agreed.

Right in the centre, perhaps 150 feet from where they had entered, was a structure in the shape of a cube, some eight feet to a side. "Is that some sort of altar?" Stacy asked.

"Perhaps," Carl said. "But we need to come closer for you to see what is most significant about it."

As they came closer they were able to make out that the side of the cube facing them bore a mural whose colours were as vibrant as if it had been painted yesterday. It was a life-size, full-length and amazingly life-like portrait of Astra. "Wow! Stacy said once more.

1. In the picture Astra was wearing a leather bikini similar to the one that she was wearing now.
2. She was attired in space armour, though unhelmeted, and wielding some sort of futuristic-looking raygun.
3. Unexpectedly, she was totally naked.
