At the sound of the name of "Fred", it was as if a dam burst in Hannah's mind. Belboz's magic had repressed her memories of having been Fred, but he had not been able to remove them. Now they all came forth in a mighty flood. She felt dizzy for a moment, and had to lean against the horse to support herself.
"I remember," she said in a tone of wonder. "I remember everything!" Then the wonder was replaced by anger, as she went on: "That wicked old man! There will be a reckoning." "Welcome back, Fred," Astra said, smiling broadly. "You were last seen in these caves some ten years ago, and when I joined this expedition I hoped that - as well as slaying the dragon - I might get some news of you. But I didn't expect to have you almost walk into my arms." "It's good to see you again, Astra. And hardly looking any older. But how did you know it was me?"
