"How long will this spell last?" asked Fredwynna, wondering if she dare go to such lengths. The witch replied:

  1. "An hour at most, so you'll have to be quick."
  2. "A day."
  3. "A week."
  4. "Until I cast the spell to turn you back." (Fredwynna could see all sorts of potential problems with that.)
  5. "Forever. I'm afraid it's irreversible. But if you win, at least a good dragon will be substituted for an evil one."
