Lots of Questions, Not Many Answers

Having no answer for that, she put it to one side for now. Could the corpse be that of an alternative version of herself from an another reality? Or was it just a millions to one shot that some other person happened to look exactly like her? Whatever the explanation, it seemed an amazing coincidence that she should have stumbled - almost literally - across her body.

She decided that everyone else going out of their way to pretend not to see the corpse had a much simpler explanation. They were just doing the normal big city thing of not wanting to get themselves involved in what at the very least would result in a substantial upset to the smooth running of their day.

But just then someone did intervene.

1. It was a passer-by, offering help.
2. It was a police officer who had happened to be passing.
3. It was a man with a gun - presumably the same man who had killed her doppelganger.
4. It was the "corpse", who turned out not to be dead after all, but had merely been unconscious!
5. Startlingly, it was a naked woman with flaming-red hair.
