Grand Purpose as Twin Serpents

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 112580

In some way, the decision was made in a split second and a moment of passion fueled by a sense of melodramatic betrayal, but also, Pronklezilch had had in mind the idea of acquiring at least one serpentine companion and imbuing it with a certain magic, but this we will get to in a moment.

Time seemed to slow for Fred and Astra. Everything around them became dull, vague, fuzzy—such was the way of transformation magic. It began with the shortening of their arms and the lengthening of their bodies in general. Quickly finding the sensation odd beyond reason, they both found themselves falling backwards, landing in lazy sitting positions in the grass. They grasped at their stomachs as they elongated, smiling widely in total bewilderment at the sensations which could not possibly have been real. Their torsos felt like putty being reshapen, growing much slimmer even as they grew much longer. But soon enough, it became impossible to grasp at those torsos any longer, as their arms had become too short to reach.

Indeed, their fingers rapidly retreated into their hands, their hands into their wrists, and every part of their arms into their bodies. Fred quickly lost balance upon noticing how lacking his grasping abilities were and fell on his back, and lay there, unable to push himself up, as he had mere nubs left beneath his shoulders. Astra giggled upon seeing it, remaining fortunate for the moment, as she was yet sitting up. Yes, they both were rather high on the magic shot through their systems at this point, and perhaps that was for the best.

Their legs began bonding together, from the thighs down, pushing off certain parts of their clothes. Not that clothes were particularly necessary at this point, for those legs were rapidly losing any resemblance to legs. Their knees and ankles vanished, and in fact their hips and waists had all but become straight lines, as everything beneath their shoulders became practically uniform, except for how it all tapered off to a point at the end. Yes, their entire bodies were basically tail now, with no recognizable features. Even their shoulders now melted away, and it was as if they had never had limbs at all. Astra, no longer with a rear end, was forced to join Fred on the ground.

While all this had been happening, their hair had been falling out, creating two large piles of soft blond and fiery red in the grass. Their skulls shrank significantly, reshaping, but already done were the changes to their tongues; Astra, feeling a strangeness in her mouth, flicked out her forked tongue at Fred, and he laughed at the absurdity of the sight, though the laugh sounded rather like a hiss. Anyway, the shapes of their skulls reformed utterly, their noses widening and sinking down into their faces, their ears vanishing entirely, their eyes moving further apart and darkening, fangs pushing their way through their gums, and their jaws elongating drastically, even as the gradual elongation of their bodies had never really stopped. Pretty much everything was joints now. Finally, the scales began to emerge, and they shuddered as prickles erupted across their skin. On the female there came scales red like blood and fire, complementing her green slitted eyes; while on the male, the scales were of gold, befitting an honored member of the king's army, while his eyes flashed blue.

The magic now reached into their snakeish minds, traveling down through their brains and into their fangs, ending on the most important note, and in fact the core reason Pronklezilch had selected these forms. The serpents blinked, beholding each other for the first time in every practical way, as they had no idea who the other was and in fact no memory at all of who they had been.

In the end, the width of their bodies was about that of an average human arm (not well-muscled like theirs had been), and the length somewhere in the neighborhood of four and a half feet. Truly they were both gorgeous specimens.

The creatures lay still in the grass for a few long moments, stunned by something that had just happened of which they had no memory or comprehension. They shook out their long bodies, and their attention was suddenly caught by the wizard standing near them in the grass, but immediately they found themselves inexplicably but irresistibly drawn to the staff in his hand. In perfect tandem, they slithered, moving easily, as if they had not spent the entirety of their lives up till this moment navigating through the world with the aid of limbs, towards that staff, and upon reaching its base, they made their way up it, entwining their long bodies together around it and resting their diamond-shaped heads near the top.

Pronklezilch smiled in deep satisfaction, stroking the golden head nearer him. "You shall be called Kumasi," he said softly, almost reverently, and then rested his finger on the head of the red-scaled snake, saying in the same tone, "and you Shika."

Oh, did he have plans for these creatures.

It was their venom. It was all about their venom, woven by powerful magic of his own design, just like their new forms.

  1. Their venoms had different purposes, glorious purposes which were meant to perfectly complement each other.
  2. Their venoms both worked in the same way, but Pronklezilch had never intended to have only one handcrafted serpentine tool; two was a perfect number.
