And just like that, the transformation began, and Waverly's tail was being ripped apart. She screamed in pain as it split in two, her long, graceful fish tail being replaced by a pair of human legs, ones thick with muscle and covered in dark hair. Her scales melted away, pale pink skin emerging, and her fins, including those on her forearms and lower back, vanished. In the meantime the webbing between her fingers vanished as well, as did the gills in her neck.

But the changes didn't stop there; far from it. At the same time, her hair rapidly retreated back into her skull, stopping when there were a few inches left, and a course beard sprouted on her face as her face itself changed structure, her chin becoming stronger, her jaw squarer, her eyebrows thicker. Her breasts melted away entirely, replaced by impressive pectorals covered by coarse hair. Her [or his, as our hero will be referred to from now on] waist widened considerably and his arms bulged outward with muscle.

The transformation was complete. Fred, though still rather thinking of himself as Waverly, gasped and clawed at the shore, though he was of course immediately helped up by Rick, who also immediately offered him a thin blanket he had to cover his nakedness. Fred accepted it immediately, pulling it around his shoulders and shivering.

"Fred," Rick cried, embracing his long-lost friend. "I had nearly given up hope of ever seeing you again, and despite your being lost to powerful magic, the Fates not only brought us together again after these long years, but gave us the means to restore you post haste! I could not be more glad, my friend!"

Fred

  1. embraced him in return, exclaiming, "I wholeheartedly agree, my brother! I cannot thank you enough for bringing me back! How fares Allaria?"
  2. was silent, not resisting the hug but only shivering in response. He was trying to come to terms with what had happened, and though he thought it must objectively be a good thing, he could not decide how he genuinely felt about it. It was too soon.
  3. pulled away, glaring at him and spitting, "You have stolen me from my home and destroyed me. I cannot go back like this. I am utterly alone. Do not touch me."
