"I wish you were human," said Rick. The transformation began immediately. Waverly's top half remained the same, but her tail was being ripped apart. She screamed in pain as it split in two, her long, graceful fish tail being replaced by a pair of human legs. Her scales melted away, pale pink skin emerging, and her fins, including those on her forearms and lower back, vanished. In the meantime the webbing between her fingers vanished as well, as did the gills in her neck. She kicked desperately, having no muscle memory at all to help her tread water with these clumsy human legs, and found herself being hauled up onto shore. Sir Rick, of course, was horrified as he quickly realized the mistake he had made. The creature that Fred had become was now human again, but Fred was not back. He now appeared as a beautiful woman with porcelain skin, long legs, soft golden hair to her waist, and little muscle on her at all—though she was lean, hers was not the body of a warrior. He quickly began, "I wish—" "I am human now, you fool," she spat, pushing her hair roughly out of her face. "I cannot grant you any more wishes." Rick blinked, horror dawning over him. Had he thought more carefully, he could have saved Fred from this. The woman said,
