Havelock and Reatha instantly faded from Waverly's mind, leaving only a feeling of deep sorrow that vanished when she looked into Henry's eyes. Unbeknownst to her, any lingering memories she retained of Lord Fred's family completely disappeared as well. She stared lovingly up at the fisherman, knowing she had just granted him his second wish, but with no idea what it had been. Ah well. She knew it was granted. After a few moments of studying her expression, he straightened up, and asked, "Um, so... if I were to use my last wish to make you human, would you agree to marry me?" Hadn't he just asked that? He had... and she'd said no, for some reason. She couldn't recall what that reason had been. "Of course. Nothing would make me happier." Henry looked triumphant, and said decisively, "Then I wish you were human." The transformation began immediately. Waverly's top half remained the same, but her tail was being ripped apart. She screamed in pain as it split in two, her long, graceful fish tail being replaced by a pair of human legs. Her scales melted away, pale pink skin emerging, and her fins, including those on her forearms and lower back, vanished. In the meantime the webbing between her fingers vanished as well, as did the gills in her neck. She kicked desperately, trying to rid herself of the sensation which was a cross between burning and horrible prickling, and she felt herself being hauled onto deck and into Henry's arms. He quickly covered her with a blanket, and she huddled close to him, whimpering, "It is so cold, being out of the water. How can you stand it?" "Waverly," he said softly, "I love you madly. Will you marry me?" Despite the cold, she smiled. "Yes."
