An elfin lass attempts to explain...some of it at least.

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 11232

"Not those of Good," Fredrina sighs, "But according to Rule 1 and Agent 1 the Office of Evil is rather angered at the whole affair. I...."

The first Doctor interrupts.

"Pardon me for intruding," the first Doctor says crossly, "But could you kindly explain what the devil you are talking about?!"

The first Doctor then gets a bit uncomfortable at the rather annoyed looks he garnered with that outburst.

"I believe that I can explain," B'elanna finally says, running a hand in annoyance through her long golden hair, "After all, I have been with the others of Dr. Who's group long enough to be able to explain.

"But please refrain from ordering us around like you are a Star Fleet instructor or some type of professor," the elfin lass says simply, "I don't know about the others but I for one do not like be treated as such.....as a child. I'm not trying to be rude....but it is less than enchanting, at least as far as I'm concerned."

The fact of the matter was that back in her non-existent younger years (non-existent, since she initially only had been a magical construct endued with memories and such to mimic the fiery tempered B'elanna Torres of one U.S.S Voyager) she'd left Star Fleet due to incident related to....er....not being able to conform to the ideals of Star Fleet Academy. Part of the reason she'd left was her temper. Part of it was due to the fact that she'd not been able to stand the way some of her instructors treated her and other Star Fleet Cadets......

She'd gone a long way at "reinventing" herself after discovering that she wasn't who'd she thought she was. Rather, she was a magical construct who only thought.....only been programmed to think that she was actually B'elanna Torress (re: 7203). Instead of having a psychotic break, with the help of Elrondir (then Seeker) helped her come to the realization that despite her odd beginnings she was any less of a person in comparison to those of ordinary "birth." Eventually, after a short and painful run in with her creator (re: 7206) that necessitated some mysterious Powers that Be to reincarnate herself and her love, Elrondir, into elves she'd set off in a quest to become more than a mere copy of a person. Rather, to become herself and not a copy. This meant she was trying to move away from being "B'elanna Torress" the human/Klingon and toward being "B'elanna" the elfin lady.

This meant that she was growing to being able to be more tolerant and less prone to fits of anger and such that her "sisters" back on the Voyagers still exhibited from time to time.

She was rather pleased with the results thus far.

She'd gone so far in one last visit "home" to the Voyager to make something of a final break from her past. She'd surprised the Doctor (the holographic one....not the Time Lord one) by apologizing for thinking him more of a piece of annoying equipment instead of a person in his own right (for how could she think of him of anything else than a person, despite his artificial nature, since her origins were very much artificial as well?). She'd not developed any warm feelings for her "sisters" (either the human ones or the "furry" ones of the twin Voyagers), but she'd at least been able to be civil. The meeting with Tome Paris had been confusing, but while Paris had been disturbed by it.....the elfin lass had come away with a sense of liberation.....by burying any lingering ghosts of old.....unreal memories of a romantic relationship that never had been (she had known her love with Elrondir was real and true....but the meeting with Tom was just to eliminate a lingering within her heart of hearts about feelings for Tom......) The only down side of her last visit was that she'd had a rather bad falling out with a person she'd used to admire. Janeway wasn't like the person she'd remembered from those artificial memories of her own Voyager. In fact, there was something about the Janeways she'd met that finally filled her with something akin to loathing.

These Janeways were......overblown and something B'elanna couldn't quiet put into words. Sometimes the Captain seemed to be a strict disciplinarian, fierce and stern. Other times she seemed to be nodding at mutiny. The contradictions just.....was too much for B'elanna to stomach.

She'd gone as far as taken delight in joining with Betty and Ragan at throwing darts at a picture of Captain Janeway.

As it was she was thankful that she no longer was the person that she had been, thank goodness! Else she'd would have either stormed out of the room by now due to how the first Doctor treated her and the others from time to time.....or would have YELLED at the Time Lord instead of calmly stating what she had.

Several others echoed that sentiment.

Betty and Ragan also silently agreed. They loved the show Doctor Who.....loved the Doctor....but the fact of the matter was even the other Doctors found the first Doctor's manners grating at times. Even the fifth Doctor, probably the most tolerant and understanding of all of the Doctors of The Five Doctors had made a face of annoyance. You can see it in any good video of that episode, that look of annoyance, though it was made when the others in the story hadn't been watching. It happened after the first Doctor had expressed delight at his future being in good hands right before he and the other Doctors had boarded the TARDIS and been swept back into their proper places in time.

The first Doctor looked a bit outraged, but subsided as the tale unfolded.

  1. "Now, forgive the long format of how I'll lay out the details.....but if I don't do it this way I'll just confuse the issue instead of explain it," the elfin lass begins.
