Where Did Melissa Spring From?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 110672

Whilst Inquirer was trying to make sense of the lines of dialogue that had so perplexed Colin Baker, she suddenly realised that there was another puzzle that seemed to her far more important to solve (not having seen The Shakespeare Code). She was sure that they had left Melissa behind on Terra Prime [8672], along with Stacy, but here she was! [16500] (The TARDIS had also collected several new passengers at the same time that Melissa and Stacy were left behind, but they were with them no longer, which should have left only the Doctor (the real third incarnation), Betty, Ragan and Inquirer herself.)

Neither the Doctor nor either of the Betties had given any indication of noticing that anything was wrong - and indeed neither had she until this moment, which was strange. Inquirer carried out a diagnostic test of her memory, just in case, but it showed no errors.

Was this really Melissa? Perhaps the Doctor had made a trip to bring her back, without Inquirer having known about it, for some reason of his own? Or was it some shape-shifter impersonating her, and possessing strong mind-influencing capabilities so that her presence would be accepted?

What should Inquirer do?

  1. Deciding to take the bull by the horns, she says to Melissa: "I thought we left you behind?"
  2. She decides to wait until she can get the Doctor alone and then speak to him about it.
  3. Seeing Inquirer's gaze fixed on her, Melissa says something.
