The necklace was placed in an era of Earth around the 1100s—comparatively similar to Fred's original home. It eventually ended up in a family that passed it from generation to generation and never had a single idea of its age. In the late 20th century, the necklace became the last gift of a dying grandmother to her six-year-old granddaughter—and this, dear reader, is where our story picks up again. Frita had been very nearly unconscious during her time as a figurine, but not quite. It was something only fairies were capable of—they could rest, and were more or less unaware of the goings on around them, and completely unaware of the passage of time, but when they woke up they had vague memories of what happened during their time in this state, encompassing all six senses [as fairies, of course, had a sixth]. Well, this state ended for Frita quite by chance. Her newest bearer, a little girl by the name of Sara, had a touch of magic in her. It was not much, as magic never occurs naturally on Earth in great enough quantities to actually do anything. But Frita was not from Earth, and when Sara, about ten months after being given her by her grandmother was admiring her necklace one night and whispered, "I wish you were real," it was enough. Frita had never been so disoriented in her entire life. It took a good ten minutes for her to even register that she was conscious.
