make Marjora put in a good word for him to her father the king, so that he'd have a better chance at that expansion and promotion he'd been wanting.
make Marjora more assertive, in the hopes that Edghar would respect her more and she could be happier in her marriage to him.
do whatever he could to break off Marjora's engagement to Edghar. He knew it would leave her heartbroken and bewildered, but the detached man truly was not suited for the Malbonctish throne.
fill Marjora's life with strange nuisances and behavioral tics. He'd never liked her much, and her willingness to drug her fiancé was the straw that broke the camel's back.

change many of her policies and perhaps even beliefs, so that after he poisoned the king and she inherited the throne, he would live in a better kingdom than the one he did currently.
have at least an hour of completely chaotic fun, using the princess as his tool, before fleeing the country. He'd always hated Malboncton anyway.
