Though Belboz had given Fred more than her fair share of womanly curves, as she was only 4' 9" tall, before the witch had started feeding her up she had weighed no more than 100 pounds. Now, after three helpings of the stew, that had increased to 135 pounds. Fred did not know that of course, but she could see that her arms and legs were now decidedly chubby, her waist had filled out, and her breasts and buttocks were bigger. Her dress had originally been rather loose on her, but now it was desperately tight. How could I have put on so much weight in just a few days? she wondered. It must be almost time to move on, if I'm not to find walking a long way too difficult.

  1. She came to a decision. She would take advantage of the crone's absence, and would leave rght now.
  2. Just then the witch returned, carrying ingredients for the stew. Before long, the smell from the cauldron was so delicious, that Fred couldn't resist having another helping. When she next woke, she was even fatter. Her dress had been reduced to rags.
