By this time, Andrea was forty-four, Daniel was twenty-three, and Hannah—who had been with the fairies for twenty years—was thirty-five. They were all blissful and content with their lives as fairy pets, and barely remembered—nor did they care to remember—what life was like as dignified full-sized humans. The youngest child was almost fourteen years old by now. Her older sister, who had done most of the gardening, had gotten married and moved out about a decade before. She'd done most of the gardening when she was still at home, and the father had kept it up until his daughter was old enough to help. Now that there was talk of her leaving home to get married, the fairies didn't see it as such an ideal home anymore.
