Hannah reeled back, gasping, but she was enormously relieved to be back to her true size. The fairies seemed to be stirring in the bushes, but she was fairly sure they hadn't even seen the incident. Belboz and Gloriana were talking now, but their booming voices were hard to understand. Once she concentrated, she managed to catch Belboz's intention to study this fairy colony and Hannah's place within it.

She was worried, but there was nothing she could do about it.

Soon enough the fairies were singing again, though, and all her cares were forgotten.

  1. Belboz shrank himself down and studied the goings on in the colony invisibly. He knew better than to trifle with fairies.
  2. Belboz's presence quickly irritated the fairies, and they shrank him down as they had Hannah.
  3. Belboz quickly became enchanted by the fairies' songs just as Hannah had been.
