Stacy's heart sank. Why did everything always seem to go wrong? "Oh!" said Geoff Smith in surprise. "Mrs Arden didn't say anything about this. Still, if the research centre decided to move his belongings into storage so they could let someone else have use of the lab, I suppose she might not have known. Though it all seems very rushed, I must say - not very respectful somehow."

He made a series of phone calls, at the end of which he told Stacy:

  1. "It's OK. I've found out where they've stored Dr Arden's effects and they're going to let us have access."
  2. "It's very strange. The research centre said his belongings had been impounded by the FBI. Why would they do that?"
  3. "It's very strange. Nobody seems to know where Dr Arden's stuff has gone."
