Fred recognises the newcomers, as he was once sent on an errand to their
court.
They are a middle-aged corpulent couple, dressed in courtly attire
unsuitable for the caves.
"My Lord, My Lady, greetings," Fred says. "Astra, may I introduce the Duke
and Duchess of T'Nook.
My Lord, My Lady, this is Princess Astra of Aqualaria. And the dog is
Velus, who was a teenage
boy until the dragon enchanted him."
"I had heard that in the sub-tropical climate of Aqualaria people commonly wear rather less than we are accustomed to farther north," says the Duchess rather acidly, "but I hadn't appreciated just how much less." "I apologise for my nudity," Astra says, "but until recently I was a prisoner of the dragon and it amused him to deprive me of my clothes." "I see. Do stop staring at the princess, Stanley, or I shall get very cross." "Yes dear," says the Duke meekly. It is clear which of them is the boss. "May I ask what brings you here?" Fred inquires.
