Fred hugged the wall of stone and dirt that was closest to him, he did not
want to be found out by anyone who inhabitted these dragon halls. He
watched as the roped-tied platform came to a stop on a ledge of rock about
two stories up from the floor where Fred stood. The red-haired man and
the woman in riding clothes both got off the and platform began to ascend
once again from where it came. Fred stared at the platform as it rose,
rose rose, high into this seemingly endless cavern. Fred was so engrossed
by the whole sight, however, that he failed to notice the white creature
that snuck up behind him.
"Puth yor hants upp!" it gargled. Fred turned and saw before him a seven-foot high hairy ape-like thing that was definitely an albino of whatever race it descended from. He was so shocked by what he saw that his warrior reflexes failed to kick in, instead all he was able to say was, "Huh?" The creature, whose mouth was a horrid disfiguration of anything natural, growled back, "U arr prisonr, get hants upp, upp!" Fred's Allarian mind quickened and the bits of this dliemma came into focus. He stared at the creature; its three arms and two long legs, and the cub it carried in its prehensile tail. He stared at the passage walls, the stones and outcroppings of hard-packed dirt. By the time the creature began to blabber a third time Fred had a plan. He swung his sword at the creatures head while simultaneoulsy leaping to the left. The creatre acted by ducking, flailing with its three hands and swinging the club about with its tail. Fred did a double somersault to avoid the tail and slashed backwards at the things second thigh. A screech let him know that he hit home. The creature turned, then, and lunged at Fred, hitting him with all its might. Fred hit the floor with a thud and the dust of the place temporarily blinded him. He thwacked this wand that as the large body of the white thing attempted to smother him. More screeched alerted Fred as to his success, yet the monster refused to let go. Fred used what leverage he had to bounce upwards from the floor and the monster abruptly had the tables turned on it. Down came Fred's sword again, and again, and again, and again. Finally the creature stopped its screeching and whimpering. All was quiet but for the deep breathing of Fred. Then Fred heard the clapping. "Well done," came a deep voice. Fred turned and saw the red-haired man. He was small, only about five-and-a-half feet tall, yet his muscles bulged outward from his leather tunic and breeches. He held a morningstar in his hand and a shield covered his back. Fred stood in his warrior stance, but the red-haired man just laughed. "Listen, hero," he said. "Ain't no way you're gonna beat me... in fact, ain't no way you're gonna even scratch me. Be a good hero and just follow me, OK?" With that the man turned away and began walking back into the grand waterfall cavern.
