In Which Lord Hafax is Suspiciously Polite, Not To Say Oily

"Hmph," Belboz interjected. "More delay. I'm going. You'll find me at the Eldritch Tome section." He stomped off.

"Astra," Minestus said severely, "the decision on whether Lord Hafax may travel with us isn't up to you. You work for me now, remember. It's for me to decide."

"Oh, I do beg your pardon if I seemed to slight you just now, sir," Hafax said to Minestus. "I didn't realise that you were the leader of the group. The princess has such a commanding air about her, and once I learnt that she was a princess that only confirmed my impression that she must be the one in charge."

Minestus gave Astra a dirty look, before turning his attention back to Hafax. The latter went on: "I am very pleased to meet you, but might I have the honour of knowing whom I am addressing? Princess Astra called you Minestus, but I am sure that there must be some honorifics that go with the name, for you are clearly a person of some importance."

Appeased, Minestus introduced himself: "I am Draconic High Magus Minestus."

"I am deeply impressed, Magus. I have never met someone of your exalted station before. Now I understand how you can have a princess as your assistant. Please may I join your party? In token of my gratitude, I should be happy to make you a gift of something at least as valuable as the handbag that I have promised Princess Astra. There is something in this store that you have set your heart on, perhaps, that I could buy for you?"

1. Thoroughly flattered, Minestus agrees.
2. Minestus is suspicious. "Why are you so eager to join us that you are willing to spend a minimum of fifty gold pieces on myself and Astra?" he asks.
3. A chime sounds, and a voice announces that the Starbucks is leaving Nexus Prime in 10 minutes. Do they stay or go? And if they decide to go, do they have time to reunite with Belboz first and does Hafax go with them?
