You know, in a very strange way, it was a little more acceptable than it seemed. If they had been in their proper forms, they would still be a man-woman pair, just like they would normally have chosen to be.

Well, one small motion from Belboz, and it didn't even matter; Hannah (who had once been Sir Fred) became lost in Ronan's deep-set brown eyes, and Ronan (who had once been the peasant girl Maya) became lost in Hannah's beautiful blue ones. They approached each other slowly, though the pace was agonizing for both of them, and when they finally met they shared a wonderful kiss.

  1. Belboz chose this moment to reveal himself, expressing delight that Hannah had found someone, and encouragement that the young couple get married.
  2. Belboz seized the opportunity presented by their unawareness, and transported them to a far-flung corner of the cave, from where they could have no hope of navigating back to his home.
