Pruvyre is given the form of an ogress—an eight-foot tall monstrosity, mostly humanoid, but completely different from the way she used to look. She appears as an obese woman with few long, scraggly black hairs on her head; dry, cracked, pale green skin; eyes too far apart; nose very broad; enormous ears; a wide mouth that displays a full set of very dirty but very sharp teeth; short legs; and arms so long her fingers brush the top of the tall grass when she walks through it. He gives her an ogress's mind, too—dull, slow, and completely focused on one thing: eating. That will serve my purposes well, he thinks, satisfied, and turns her loose to patrol his border. As slow-witted as ogres are, at least they have capabilities of speech, so it's an intellectual step up from being a dog. At the least, Pruvyre knows she has been commissioned to keep trespassers from entering her master's territory. Some time passes. Her first worthy opponent is...
