Diana doesn't even hear the wizard's warning that this spell will be irreversible; she is far too focused on all that will be opened up for her and her hand now. After the spell, they are able to have telepathic conversations. Her hand's vocabulary is the same as hers and it can answer questions and supply very basic ideas, but its intellect is not exactly staggering. Even so, she loves it only all the more now that she can talk to it. She's still focused enough on the world to continue with her tutoring job, but only because she can use her hand. Without that, her concentration would never last. One day, a knight passing through the village in search of quests hears tell of the young woman who never stops staring at her hand. By chance, he has met a wizard who told him of a young madwoman who came to him asking if he could give her hand a mind, for she was madly in love with it. The knight, after a short conversation with Diana, decides that she must be the woman the wizard told him about, and asks if she has ever met a witch or warlock or any unfriendly magic-user. He eventually gets a name out of her: Zenobia. And so, the knight begins a perilous quest to restore a young woman's sanity. He finds Zenobia's castle and...
