In Which Diana's Family Goes Green

After breakfast the following morning, Connar takes his children out to the garden to play. He invites Diana to join them, as always, but she says she is not feeling well and wants to go back to bed.
While they are outside, a hooded figure appears suddenly, incapacitates the guard that has been standing with them, sprays a cool mist at them from his hands, and hurries away. Connar tries to go get help, but his feet are sinking into the ground, and he can't move. He looks around, and sees that his children's skin is turning brown and rough. Leaves are sprouting from their faces and fingers, and growths are protruding from their sides. They can't move either. The two older children who are holding the twins drop them, but the babies seem unharmed. As Connar grows to unnatural heights, he screams for help. The guards at the front of the garden arrive just in time to see eight pairs of eyes melt away into tree trunks, and with a mighty groan, the transformation, which has taken about one minute, is over. Diana acts devastated by her family's transformation, and publicly commissions Mirdox to find whoever did this. Really, though, she is just relieved to be rid of the pressure for a little while. She does not blame herself one bit for that. A few days pass, which Diana spends very busily, as she is now in change of running a kingdom. Guards are posted by the eight trees all hours of the day, just in case. After three weeks of freedom...
