In Which Brigid Grows Up Too Slowly

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 103843

Zenobia smiles, and nods. The gingerbread she gives her this time, however, is perfectly normal.

A few months pass, during which Zenobia has a ridiculous amount of fun watching a teenager act like a very small child. There is no way (unless she uses magic, but what fun would that be?) for Brigid to mature more quickly in either behavior or intellect, so it looks like she'll always be ten years behind.

Brigid doesn't realize it because her body doesn't change too terribly much, but Zenobia puts her under for six months to a year at a time several times over the following years. She just doesn't want to have to deal with her constantly.

So, when Brigid turns thirty, she finally has the maturity level of a fifteen-year-old. One morning, she sits down with her Mother at breakfast and says,

  1. "Mum, I think I'm ready to move out."
  2. "Why can't I ever leave the castle?"
