Some Doctors get the News....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 10351

"Ah, I guess we can start from the top," Sigin tried to smiled at his audience.

"Simply put, you were dying," the amazon warrior princess turned elf said flatly, "You originally were one person who's life thread had been basically been pulled together and bunched together in one point in time.....much like diverting a mighty river being diverted to the side by locks and levies. However, in this case with the shutting of the Time Scoop.....for we know by the faded lights of it's controls that it's not on!....... then it was like a dam being slammed into place the Time Scoop cut off, cutting your one life thread into five smaller independent threads in the end. One became five.....or more like six....."

Dr. Who took up the conversation thread as the Time Lords (and Time Lady) look confused.

"The thing of it is that the Time Scoop tried to Scoop.....well....malfunctioned," Dr. Who explained, "It reached out and scooped a parallel Doctor and friends who'd been the victim of another Time Scoop from their own universe. The odd nature of this malfunction caused what could have been a temporary duplication....."

Dr. Who gives off a techno-babble explanation that would have done the best Star Trek: the Next Generation episode proud! From what the other non-Time Lord could understand, the Doctors had been duplicated and temporarily in various places in Dr. Who's universe. The Doctors had mistaken this universes people and places as their own! Also, right at this moment, those that they'd come from were still acting out whatever acts they were....over in the original universe......

"So we were time throw offs?" the fourth Doctor shudders, drawing Romana closer for comfort.

"That's almost right, I'm afraid," Dr. Who sighed, "See, if we'd finally been able to gather your other selves and send you back.....you'd merge back with your other self....leaving only the vaguest of memories and feelings....only remembering what had happened here with the deepest and darkest of nightmares. We can't send you back now, as it stands. Nor can we send back those others on the board even if we can turn the Scoop back on....."

Shouts can be heard in the background, followed by shrieks from energy weapons and the thudding of a body. The Time Scoop lights back up seconds afterwards.

News comes in telling of the Captain of the Guard having been found at the very power junction and firing in blind panic....

"The fool could have bluffed his way out," the Guard mutters, shaking his head, "He would have been believed, but he'd panicked and....basically confessed as he shot at several of my fellows! We had to neutralize him....."

"We'll talk with him after he's Regenerated," Castellan growls, "since he has a few left. A session with the Mind Probe should prove most....enlightening."

The other Time Lords look almost sorry for the man who'd apparently caused so much trouble.

"But as I was saying," Dr. Who finishes, "we can't send you back. We need not worry about the humans and Susan, for I'm afraid that except for the ones with the fifth Doctor....the young appearing fellow with that celery stalk on his shirt-and the young woman who's accompanying the third Doctor-the people who the other Doctors are going around with are from this universe. The other Doctors had been drawn a bit by this universe's Time Scoop....and drawn in all the way into the trap on the second pass as it were (one to draw them forth from their own universe.....one to draw them to Galifry and the Death Zone)."

And thank you, Sigin, for helping me come upon truth of that as we quickly threw together a spell to save my brothers! Dr. Who sighed to himself, amazed at the versatility of this dragon mage.

"Finally, I tied your souls into several of those duplicates that are actual Time throwoff," Sigin put in, "They had already been in the process of expiring. Their spirits, if you will, had already departed, leaving hollow shells. I just made a few magical adjustments....stabilizing them in a process.....I don't think I'll ever be able to do again since I had to use something like three fourths of my Hoard from back home and back on Terra Prime to do it......"

A dragon's Hoard is linked to a dragon's life energy and power. The bigger the Hoard the longer lived and more power the dragon. Synizn had gotten his Hoard through taking from pirates (taking from those who had stolen it). Though no longer dependent on his Hoard, he'd used the treasure as a much needed magical spell component to bring about the miracle he was speaking of, stabilizing time throwoffs.

"I see," Romana says quietly, with an odd, fey smile on her lips, "Then that being the case with what you say, I guess there is no reason why I and my love should hold on....anymore."

E'ysha and the other elves look resigned, having already figured that it would come about, sooner or later.

"What are you speaking of?" Ragan asks, puzzled.

"When she accidentally got linked to me it happened at an inopportune time," E'ysha explained. "she was touching my mind closely enough at the moment when an analogous twin of mine's heart erupted into transformation. See, I was touched by her spirit a bit ago and somehow garnered the very spell that we used to anchor the Doctor's to those other universes. The mage who caused the touching somehow used me as a model and was transforming her for some reason into an elf..... But the thing was when the transformation hit her 'heart' it blossomed into love and turned....well, elfin. My heart was already elfin so it didn't have any adverse effects on me, but her heart got caught in the area of effect....."

"And she now loves the Doctor....feels the world with the emotions of an elfin woman," the fourth Doctor smiles with a smile that's.....a bit odder than what he usually has.....a bit fey if one thinks about it, "She was transformed and her heart reached out....and transformed mine."

The fourth Doctor's and Romana's form begins to blur and shrink. Not quiet in the way of a Regeneration, but recognizable as such.

"Their bodies are now taking on the form of their spirits," Gilmuriel whispered, "the transformation didn't just stop when it changed their hearts."

In moments, two naked elves laughed and hugged each other, seemingly unaware (or not caring) that they were unclothed. They were still recognizable as the fourth Doctor and Romana....but their bodies had been redone along elfin lines. They now, however, had only one heart....and a lifespan that was free from aging.

Several of the other Time Lords looked positively green around the gills while Dr. Who nodded in surmise at them.

Oh yes, that snobbery about other races rears it's ugly head, the Time Lord thought to himself, Just the thought of even an otherworldly set of Time Lords choosing to turn wholly alien instead of resisting the process just makes you sick to your aristocratic stomachs, eh?

Dr. Who wasn't comfortable with the whole of it himself, but he wasn't sickened by it.

A soft cough from Dr. Who brings attention the fact that the now elfin Doctor and Romana are naked, and they blush and quickly put on their clothing (after Romana alters them to fit their new size).

The frown, and after adding a bit of green to the color coordination of the clothing, they feel better for some reason.

"Elves like green," Elrondir explained to them, "It's part of being what we are."

"That and seeing things in a clearer light, by the heavens!" the elfin Doctor laughs a barking laugh, pointing at the Supreme Council, "As for the fact that I now realize what I should have long ago when I was banished and my name Removed....supposedly Removed, that is. Seems that I sense that it's the same for my analog brother as well!"

"DON'T YOU DARE ORDER ME QUIET!" roars the elfin Doctor, silencing the Council before it could protest or stop the enraged elf, "I AM FROM ELSEWHERE! I AM OUTSIDE.....and don't give a $^#& about you."

"They Renamed us," the elf said simply, turning and looking up at Dr. Who, "our name is The Doctor. We've always thought that they'd stripped it from us, but they'd transformed it. The Liturgy had always said that those without a Name can not get into the Hallowed Halls, but later lessons said that those like us could still come within......"

Betty and Ragan are staring back and forth between the exultant elf and the slowly smiling Time Lord named the Doctor, fascinated at this revelation.

"This is an outrage!" Castellan shouts. "We'll....."

"Please shut up, Castellan," Chancellor Flavia says sharply, "It's not becoming. This arguing is not going to rescue the others in the Zone. Do you want the blood of innocents on your hands?

"Imagine how your supporters would react if they found out," Dr. Who chuckled softly, "I don't think you'd last long, politically. Besides, you do take your Oath of Office seriously."

The Council Member looks like he's ready to explode, but finally relents.

There is a look of promise, however, that this isn't over.

"Duplicates or no," the elfin Doctor smiles a fey smile, "Romana and I shall make our own lives, apart from our originals....as it were. Frankly, I'm kind of fond of some of the changes already."

Romana smiles, already knowing what the Doctor is speaking of. Together, they will be. That and going over to that other universe where they saw that other Doctor fall from that radio telescope! Something told them that their help may be needed over their sooner or later! In fact, Romana made a mental note to suggest it to all those other Doctors......

That done, the adventurers (with the new elves coming along) get teleported out into the Death Zone on a rescue mission. Sigin, with passengers, takes to the sky, having already been told that though large though he is, the Zone would not target him (since none had ever figured such a large organic creature could possibly fly).

Meanwhile, the other Doctors who hadn't been told their new reality, have recovered enough to go on and continue on their quest to get into the Tomb of Rassilon. Despite their odd..... visions?..... dreams? ......blackout?.....they are going on the same route and path as they had in the TV show: The Five Doctors!

  1. Meanwhile, Fred and Astra have told basically a similar tale to those within the fifth Doctor's TARDIS......
