The throne room was deserted. It looked just as Joan remembered it from
when she
had been there as Lord Fred. Except, she realised, for one very
significant change:
the statue of the Spirit of Ecstasy no longer stood behind the Queen's
throne. She
wondered what its absence signified. If for some reason the statue had
fallen out of favour,
then her resemblance to it might prove a hindrance rather than a help.
