Falena hoped that Fred and Astra would feel better after they had had a good meal. Perhaps then they would be fit enough to travel (in her own estimation - she knew that they were eager to press on regardless). As they ate, she asked Astra: "Princess, how did you come to be in Caemlyn? Our scrying had lost track of you, and then you suddenly appeared there."
"I think that Reaibn must have transported Fred and myself there. Strangely enough, he might have saved our lives, for we were in a terrible fix when he did so. As to what happened to me before that, it is a long and a strange story, and probably better left for another time. Suffice it to say that but for Fred I should probably be dead, and I am forever in his debt. And I could not wish for a better friend and travelling companion." Fred might have blushed at that, but his skin was already so reddened from his burns that it was impossible to tell. "You owe me no debt, Astra," he said. "I equally might be dead but for you. And I too could not wish for a better friend and travelling companion." "Thank you, Fred. Anyway, once we arrived in Caemlyn, we discovered that Reaibn wanted to put Fred on the throne and for me to marry him - Fred that is - and be his queen." "Yes," Fred said. "So we decided that we had to get away. Astra wanted to warn her people of the danger that Reaibn represented, and I agreed, as I could see no other hope of getting things put right in my country. I wish I knew what had happened to King Emry. I fear that he must be either dead or Reaibn's prisoner. We did meet Princess Exotica. I fear that the poor girl has lost her mind. She seemed terrified of something. And Reaibn had put her to work as a skivvy! Monstrous!"
