Astra felt afraid and anxious as the night approached. She was a warrior,
and did not often feel truly afraid. She had been taught to face any
adversary coolly, without any panic or fear. But now, she was facing the
most deadly enemy of all. The beast within. A man approached her. "Are you alright, Astra?" he asked, kindly. She turned around, half expecting it to be Simon. But it wasn't. It was Frederigo. "No, I'm not alright," Astra responded. "I'm a little worried about wether the cure will work. But I think I'll make it. After all, I've survived a lot. We've been through a lot together." A brief look of pain and uncertainty passed over Frederigo's face. "Are *you* alright?" asked Astra. "Yes," said Frederigo. "I'm just worried for you." Astra could tell he was lying, but decided not to press it. Frederigo left Astra and stood alone. He had felt a small twinge of remorse for betraying Astra, but it had passed. ~~I am no longer Frederigo D'Honaire, so paralyzed by his sense of honor that he could not claim power.~~ he reminded himself. ~~I am Thoabath, the Betrayer, the Servant of Hell. I am beholden to no man. Soon, I will find the fourth piece, and my brother. Soon, I shall destroy him, Andrea, and all the others, and awaken Deltuminos. Soon, my task will be complete.~~ He revelled in demonic joy at this, ignoring the protests still, small, weak voice that was the last remnant of the old Frederigo in him. Soon, the still, small voice died down, leaving him alone with his plans.
