The Never Ending Quest - Episode 97517

Taking advantage of Old Gek being distracted, Velus bolted off into a dark corner where boxes provided some cover. A couple of the other goblins made to chase him but Old Gek waved them off. "It's just a stupid dog," said Old Gek, "let it be. We have these two."

At Old Gek's prompting, Fred is searched. He has thirty gold sovereigns in his pack [78419-1]. "Well now," said Old Gek, cheerfully. "with the current Multiversal Exchange Rate, this will be worth a pretty penny. Heh..." Old Gek scratches his chin. "Now I feel like I am in a bit of a pickle. I didn't expect to get even a tenth of this in ransom, so letting you go seems like it would be the right thing to do. On the other hand... I am thinking that your world is chock full of this type of currency. I could use you to get back to your world, then let you go.

"Yeah boss!" said one goblin
"Great plan, boss, as always," said another goblin
"Shut UP you fools," raged Old Gek. "I am thinking."

"Look, you have our money," said Lord Fred, frantically thinking of an escape plan. "Just let us go, surely like you said it is more than enough ransom to purchase our freedom." Astra nodded enthusiastically.

Old Gek laughed, a short crude coughing laugh, and pointed the gun back at Lord Fred. "Too true, but maybe I am not a fair goblin. Maybe I didn't get to where I am from keeping my word. Maybe I planned to kill you anyway..."

Fred braced himself, preparing to leap at Old Gek, he had to try to save Astra... but then Old Gek shook his head. "I only kill when I have to," he said, "and in this case I don't have to. There is no profit in it. Tell you what... I will let you keep your money, and let you go. In return, you will take me to your world. I can make a fortune there, and then find my way back here myself, don't you even worry about that."

Old Gek motioned for Fred and Astra to be released, but Fred couldn't keep his mouth shut. "We don't know how to get back, that's the thing..."

One of the goblins chuckled, "you granite-heads, when you go to the Multiversal Mall it tracks where you entered from. Go back out that same entrance, and you will return to where you were. So, just take us back to the Entrance you used, and if we are in the same party, it will take us with you."

"Same party?" asked Astra, and Old Gek explained...

Meanwhile, Velus had found an access panel in the back of the store that was still connected to the Multiversal Mall. That must be how Gek gets it to connect so fast. Velus managed to squeeze his doggie body into the narrow shaft, and it of course rejected him and deposited him right at the lobby of Customer Services. "Woof," said Velus.

  1. Old Gek explains what it means to be in the same 'party', and velus tries to get the attention of customer service.
  2. Josh and Scott are at the Multiversal Mall Food Court. Scott has a plate of pizza from "Too Much Mike's" . It is fully five pounds of pizza, for 5 MSC (multiversal standard credits).
  3. Suddenly, Old Gek gets a notification that the access panel has been used. He is not happy.
