"No, of course not," Belboz managed to gasp, as blood poured from the wound. (Astra noted that his blood was red. She had half expected it to be black.) "I took the precaution of enchanting the dagger in such a way that, I thought, it could not harm me. It seems that I made a mistake." "You were wrong," said Astra, standing up... and then she felt a strange sluggishness as her surroundings melted away. Feeling like she was fighting her way to the surface of water, she shook her head to clear it.. and only then felt the iron restraints holding her to a table. "What the hell?!" she exclaimed, seeing Belboz shaking his head at her at the foot of the table. "I had a feeling you would not keep our bargain!" snapped Belboz, but then he laughed. "Foolish girl, I put you in a dream state to see what you would do. You will never endanger your sisters by cooperating with me. So be it! I am going to put that table you are in deep in a secure chamber, and you will never, ever, be found." "You monster!" roared Astra, attempting to break free. Alas, the bonds were thick cold iron, and she could move not at all. "I told you I would help you, and I would. That was just a dream!" "No," said Belboz. "You thought it was real. There are ways to work around and with a geas, you know. I could have helped you. So quick to end my life.. well I won't do the same. I am going to enchant you so that you don't need food, water, or to make waste. You will slowly die in that room. You will seek sleep often, for only in dreams will you ever leave this place." "Belboz, no!" exclaimed Astra, but then her awareness faded away.
Two hours later... Belboz scratched his chin. Stupid woman, she had been his only real shot at the dragon. Now, he needed another sucker to try to kill the dragon for him. But how...
