Now What?

Fred-Hannah fondled the necklace and pendant. Imagine, she thought, I can tame and control a mighty dragon with this small piece of jewelry. And Chelene told me that I had the potential to be a mighty sorceress! Her Hannah self was enthralled by the idea, while the Fred part of her was a bit leary of trafficking in magic. And she could sense a small but growing third part of herself that was neither amazed not leary - simply accepting.

Am I becoming someone new? she wondered to herself. Someone neither knight nor peasant girl, but a combination of both - and more?

She decided introspection could wait a while, though. Her main concern was what to do next. Should she continue to examine the desk's contents? See what books Belboz had stored away? Or try one of the doors?

1. Fred-Hannah examines the sealed book with the lock.

3. Fred-Hannah puts on the pointed cap.
4. Fred-Hannah examines the pouch of glitering dust.
5. Fred-Hannah sees what books Belboz has on the shelves.
6. Fred-Hannah tries one of the doors.
