A Gentle Deception

"Yes, please," said Emry, an eager look upon his face. He desperately wanted to know the truth.. and yet, she felt with sorrow in her heart, he needed to remain ignorant, for his own sake and the sake of his daughter.

Sylande poured Emry some more tea, slipping in a tiny bit of elixir. It would suppress the Winds from his awareness, for indeed in sleep he had been touched by them. She knew that her own ability to see the future would be affected, for the Winds did not like to be meddled with, but she would do anything for her king. "My dear friend," she said, "sometimes dreams are just the manifest desires of our heart. What your dreams mean is that you see yourself as having a greater destiny than a gravedigger. I advise you stop drinking, get sober, and see Reaibn about a better job. You can even patch things up with your daughter."

Emry sipped the tea, which was even sweeter than the first cup. He nodded slowly. "Yes, yes I see that you are right. I need to make something of myself! Today is the first day of a greater future for me!" he grinned, stood up, drained the tea, and came over to give Sylande a warm embrace. "Thank you! Thank you so much. I need to get sober and see my beloved Exotica again."

"Of course, dear," Sylande said, with a sad smile. After Emry gushed more in thanks for her words and left, she sat down at her table and sighed. Only time would tell if she had made the right decision. At the very least his life would likely improve if he stuck to her words...

1. Emry sells his booze (no use wasting good liquor) back at a loss to the local bar, and gets cleaned up.
2. We join the teenagers, who have run foul of someone responsible for their trail's 'disappearance'.

4. We rejoin Reaibn, Fred, Belinda, and Astra at breakfast.
5. We return to Lt. Ashe, whose commanding officer notices the teenagers are no longer on the roster.
6. We return to Lt. Ashe, whose commanding officer notices nothing wrong with her paperwork, and gives the order for Allaria to be notified that the return of their people is complete.
