As Fred watched, Belboz waved his hand in his own direction. The wizard's
body seemed to shimmer and shrink slightly. Suddenly, it was over, and
standing before Fred was another young girl. The girl - Belboz - was
about the same age as Fred had become, and was dressed similarly in a
plain green blouse and peasant skirt, and had long curly brown hair. "I'll
be accompanying you," Belboz chirped happily, her new voice light and
pleasant-sounding. "This is your idea of a solution, wizard?" she said incredulously. "Instead of one young girl going up against the Amazons, we send two?" "It's part of the prophecy," Belboz said firmly. "A Necromancer, in similar skin, Will help the Warrior Lass to win." "But still no word of how, exactly?" "Um, no. Like most powerful prophecies, it's a bit on the vague side, I'm afraid. But the prophecies are quite insistant this must be done." Fred clasped a hand to her forehead, feeling a dull ache behind her eyes. "I'd feel a lot better," she said morosely, "If these 'prophecies' of yours were a bit more specific, Belboz." She giggled. "Oh, cheer up! I still have all my magic powers - and even if you've lost a bit of strength and speed, you still have your warrior's spirit! That should be all we need!" "Marvelous," Fred observed with a sigh. "So, what now?" "Now we go to find Arthema and her Amazons! I know a spell that should put us close to them - but not too close." The wizard-girl took the hand of the warrior-girl and said, "Hang on for the ride." Belboz waved her hand and:
