Bread and Goodbye

There were cries of "Plague!" and "Get out!" from the partygoers, and then a young man stood up and tossed them a loaf of bread from the food area. "Take that and go!" he hissed. The person with the pitchfork inched towards Fred and Astra, poking at the air warningly.

"We will leave, there is no need for violence," said Fred, and they closed the door behind them. Once they had retreated as stealthily as they could off of the property, they considered their options.

"This may be a blessing in disguise," said Astra. "With all of those people at the party, there should be farmsteads near here with no one home."

Fred nodded, wincing at a new sore right above his lip under his nose. "These things are really pissing me off!" he exclaimed, in a hoarse whisper. Astra could only agree.

Fred checked the container of ointment. Less than a third of it was left. "We are going to be in trouble before too much longer," he said. "we have been using too much. We need to switch to light application, to reduce pain instead of removing it altogether. We can then maybe, maybe make it to Aqualaria with swift horses.

Astra nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, now, let's find some food and horses. And hand me that bread." They both had some (it was very good, fresh baked) and started searching for a nearby farmstead.

It only took them around thirty minutes to find a modest farmstead, that appeared to be empty. While not having near the selection of the previous place, they were able to locate some well-bred and well-fed horses along with the necessary supplies. They took some food and waterskins from the home, vowing to replace everything as soon as they were able.

They worked with all due haste, and were soon ready to get back on their way.
