Feeling a writhing against her skin, Andrea looked down and discovered that
the rags which she was wearing had transformed into entangled snakes.
"Aaaahhh!!!" she screamed, flinging them off. She then took off running
away from the hills.
Nekarb watched the woman flee into the plains, a frown upon his face. She would become Lost, there, and his master would lose the opportunity to add to his collection. He then heard the cold, hollow voice in his mind. >>WE WAIT. << it said, chillingly. He had heard it since he was a young dwarf lad, but he would never get used to it, not fully. It made your skin crawl, be you dwarf or man or whatever. >>I HAVE WAITED SO LONG FOR A FEMALE ALLARIAN. SHE MAY YET RETURN. OR, I MAY SEND YOU FOR HER. << The dwarf swallowed heavily. "My lord," it said fearfully, "the plains.." There was a slimy chuckle, >>LET US HOPE IT DOES NOT COME TO THAT, SERVANT. <<
Andrea ran as fast as she could, until she could no longer hear the snakes behind her. Unfortunately, she still could not see the road, and the hills were just as close behind her. "Help!" she yelled, in a panic. "Help me!" Somewhere ahead of her she suddenly saw, far distant but rapidly growing closer, something moving. It was hard to make out what it was, as it seemed to waver like a mirage.
