"Yes," said Exotica, "and it is that knowledge that keeps me going every
day. He escaped to Aqualaria, trying to rally support to come take Allaria
back. Your people are helping him, hopefully."
Astra smiled, feeling hope in her heart. Surely her people would help King
Emry find the assistance he needed, although from what she had seen and
experienced it would take powerful magic help to aid Allaria at this point.
"That is excellent news, have you any word?"
Exotica shook her head. "Sorry, no. I only received word that he had
arrived there, and was working with the rulers of your country to try to
find help."
Astra finished her food, her mind racing. "How long will they keep me
here?" she asked.
"I was told you would be here until you were ready to acknowledge that
marrying King Fred would be the best for you and the whole country of
Allaria."
"Ha!" said Astra, but she frowned. How could she escape?
"There is one thing," said Exotica, hesitantly. "One small option we could
try."
"What's that?"
"Belboz." Exotica gave a half-sneer. "He has been kissing Reaibn's ass
since he took power, and is in charge of these dungeons. He is still a
powerful mage, perhaps he could be persuaded to assist you?"
Astra considers her options. Marrying Fred would allow the two of them to
plot with Reaibn during his free hour every day, and then she could always
get it annulled later, considering the circumstances. On the other hand,
she does not want to marry anyone right now, and maybe that old
necromancer could be of assistance.
-
Astra asks Exotica to seek an audience with Belboz for her.
-
Astra agrees to marry King Fred, and is released immediately.
-
Beyond hope, someone shows up to free Astra. Who could it be?
-
We instead join King Emry, in Aquilaria, seeking help from an unlikely source.
