There's Always Room

"What is going on?! I need to get dressed!" she exclaimed, as she was only wearing undergarments. Distraction may have played a part in her victory. Reaibn shushed her, and drug her underneath the stands.

"I don't have much time," he said, his face glossy with sweat. "You must listen to me very quickly."
"Fine," said Astra, concerned. "Go on..."
"During this hour, between noon and one, at the peak of the day, the Dark Ones are dormant. They cannot see or hear me. Once one hits, they have to seek me out. I run, I hide but they always find me. Today, there is too much to do, but tomorrow, at noon, on the dot, you and Fred drop what you are doing and meet me in my study in the tallest tower. There we can try to figure out what to do." Just then, the bell tolled one and Reaibn paled. "No! They will come, flee! Flee!" and he pushed her away and fled out from under the stands.

Astra got dressed, went to the winners circle, got her medal, then found Lord Fred. "We need to talk, NOW" she said, urgently. She explained to Lord Fred all that Reaibn had told her, and they agreed to meet him the next day. For now, however, it was time for the coronation ceremony proper to commence (they had missed the peanut races).

1. The coronation ceremony commences. Reaibn is back to his somewhat mad, unflappable self.
2. Unexpected visitors put everything in jeopardy.
