Well... it wasn't so much that they appeared in a nightclub. It went
more like this - they fell in love at first sight, realized that their
love transcended the pathetic shared hallucination around them, and wove
a new hallucination for themselves, one in which their life together
could be spent without the constraints of a fantasy setting. Why they
chose the constraints of a drug-infested, twenty first century illegal
trip-hop club is beyond me. Nonetheless, there they were, surrounded by
pychedelic swirling strobelights and crowds of sweaty, drug-addled
generation Triple-Xers. Fred's fancy black dress suit and the lady's
formal white prom gown didn't quite fit in among the mohawks and
severely self-mutilated bodies. Fortunately, the DJ had just gotten through a round of psychosis inducing techno, and decided to take it slow with a time honored classic - "La Bamba". As the opening notes blasted from the speaker, Fred and the lady grinned at each other and began to sway in unison. Velus waltzed up to them. He was a human teen again, sporting a RAF leather jacket and slicked back hair. "Bitchin party, eh?" he shouted. Suddenly, the sound of a hundred voices raised in fear drowned out the music. The police, in heavy metallic riot gear, were flooding into the nightclub, shooting tear gas at the crowds. "You are all under arrest for this illegal gathering!!" boomed a loudspeaker.
